Do IT everyday !
Yes, thats right – doing it all the time will make your days happier and more productive. Doing what ? Writing down your goals. Everyday try and write down your major goals, your month goals, week goals and day goals. Don’t try and make the list exhuastive, just jot down whatever comes to mind but make sure to write something down for each of the sections !
Your goals can vary from day to day, apart from you major goals, you shouldn’t worry about that. In setting goals and motivating yourself there are two different approaches which i combine in my life. Half of each day I set aside for strict preplanned tasks to achive specific goals. These are my definite long term aims. Then I set aside a quater of my day for dealing with tasks created or assigned by planning the night before. This means I don’t forget about urgent things.
I then spend the last quater of my day on completing the tasks brought up by goal brainstorming sessions. A lot of tasks will overlap between these three methods, and that is useful becaause the repitition helps us become more focused. Those new goals that appear each day may become part of our master goals or may be dropped. We may realise we can easily achieve those goals with little extra effort.
Regardless of the benefits of this daily goal brainstorming, the exercise is useful because it focuses us each day, helps us to grow and means that we don’t waste our time as much as if we simply did what we “felt like”.
