Here are my top 7 tips to stop procrastination overcome timewasting!

Ok people – we all hate procrastination – it makes us feel bad, it robs us of time and stops us achieving our goals and dreams. So, what can we do about it – if anything ? Well, I’ve written on procrastination before, but here is a little cheat sheet of my top seven ways to overcome procrastination.

1. Plan your day out in advance and then do the most horrid task in the morning, then the rest of the day is all down hill.

2. When you find yourself procrastinating over something, change tasks to another major goal or waypoint. If that doesn’t work, go watch a movie or run. Force yourself to be as unproductive as possible and relax. This really pisses me off with myself and is a great way to generate motivation because it makes me itching to get back to the task.

3 Start slowly and break the task into small pieces. Any task, intentionally done slowly seems to pick up speed fast. Procrastination often comes from trying to do too much too fast.

4 Pass it on to someone else. Sounds bad, but do you really need to do the task, or can you get someone else to do it? sometimes you need to weasel out of unimportant tasks that others will put on you.

5 Make a diary of your procrastination, is it related to events and situations that you are not conciously aware of? I often procrastinate at key points in the day, and now arrange my schedule to bypass them !

6 Give yourself a reward for early completion. Yeah…. its bribery but it works, at least sometimes so give it a go.

7. Go sit a quiet room with nothing to do, and nothing to write on. Wait until you can’t wait to get back to your formely procrastinated task. Then wait 15 – 30 minutes more. That soons gets you out of the habit of procrastinating.

Remember, procrastinating is a part of life, it will always be a battle at times. However, stopping procrastinating being a habit is the first key to breaking out of your shell, achieving your goasl and being super productive…
