The two major types of organisation.
Being organised is something I have always found difficult. Yet, being organised is simply another way of being efficient in what you achieve. An organised person, by definition, is always going to be more efficient than an unorganised person. The fact that I have always stuggled to be organised has made me focus intently on what is required to be organised and how I can gain these skills myself.
Organisation nearly always involves a repetitive issue that cannot be permenantly revolved. As it will be prominent for the foreseable future, then we must devise the most appropriate and efficent method for dealing with it. This process is what allows us to be organised.
Organisation can be broken down into two major groups – object placement and time / goal planning.
Secondary organisation,or object control, keeps our environment tidy and allows easy retrival of information.
Primary organisation involves time management and goal setting. Secondary organisation increases the efficiency of primary organisation.
Primary organisation comes as far as I can tell, all forms of organisation involve the following basic stages:
- Analysis of the problem.
- Adoption of a successful system currently used by someone else. This could be as simple as list building.
- Repetition and Habit – If you are to keep up with your organisation system you need it to become a habit. Practise is what is needed until you start seeing the benefits of organisation.
If you arn’t achieving as much as you would like, and you think it is down to your efficieny ask yourself if the major problem is your primary or secondary organisation. Once you have identified the correct area, focus 100% of your effort on improving in that area. Only once you have reached a satisfactory level of competence in that type of organisation should you look to improve other areas of efficiency.
